2011 Commonwealth Corps Partnership

Type:  Coverage

Crossroads for Kids is proud to announce our partnership with the 2011-2012 Commonwealth Corps! We will use the support of the Commonwealth Corps to fund 5 summer staff positions for the C5 Teen Leadership Program.

The Commonwealth Corps is administered by the Massachusetts Service Alliance, which invests in community-based organizations and institutions that rely upon volunteers and people engaged in service to meet their community’s needs. Through investing, convening, advocating, and building capacity, MSA develops and supports initiatives that incorporate service and volunteerism as effective strategies to address the pressing needs in the Commonwealth.

Corps members working with Crossroads for Kids will run programs this summer that will help each youth focus primarily on achieving the following outcomes: 1) respects human diversity and is capable of living in a diverse community, 2) forms and maintains positive relationships and 3) makes positive contributions to the community. During subsequent summers and throughout each school year, the same 100 youth who begin C5 this summer will build on these outcomes as well as work towards others that will help them to become strong young leaders in their communities, and exhibit the same spirit of service exemplified by the Commonwealth Corps!
