Crossroads for Kids is so proud of our 2011 C5 New England graduating class! On Friday, May 20, family, friends and staff watched as 43 incredible and accomplished Crossroads teens crossed the stage at Faneuil Hall in Boston to receive diplomas from our Teen Leadership Program- an honor they have all absolutely earned!
Their journey through the program has been long, wide-ranging, full of challenges and even more full of fun. From their first (Flint) year when they were introduced to our “character driven” curriculum, to their second (Lantern) “community focused” year and their introduction to service, through their third (Hammer) year and being “challenge ready” for whatever the wilds of Wyoming might throw their way, their fourth (Compass) year and recognizing what it means to be “college bound,” and finally to their fifth (Medallion) year and fully “committing to a better future,” these teens have become a community full of power and vision!
Fortunately for Crossroads, many of these teens have not finished their journeys with the program: 12 members of the 2011 graduating class will return to work in one of our programs this very summer, excited to pay forward the experience they’ve each had themselves with their Crossroads C5 counselors, mentors and friends. Their bright futures include exciting jobs, matriculation to some of the best colleges in the region and country (visit our Virtual College Wall for the impressive list!), and the passion and drive to change the lives of others as theirs have been changed.
The slideshows of embarrassing photos, the speeches full of inside jokes and unconditional support, and the moments of public tears are behind them for now, but as these inspiring youths move forward in their lives, we are as proud as ever to always call them part of the Crossroads family.
