Joining the Posse cohort is a natural next step for our teens, as through our programming they already have devoted significant time and energy to issues of diversity, leadership, and college access. This fits with the goals of the Posse Foundation, which are to help recruit outstanding young leaders from diverse backgrounds to top colleges and universities and, through the Posse cohorts, help the schools create more inclusive environments and help the students succeed in their academics.
We are so excited for our Posse scholars, and know that they will be high-impact members of their Posse cohorts. As Bisi and Tamin have progressed through the Crossroads C5 Teen Leadership Program, they have exemplified the qualities our curriculum seeks to instill. They have been powerful and visionary leaders among their class from their first year in the program, and have shown great leadership in situations ranging from physically challenging to professional, from a wilderness trek in Wyoming to leading discussions with state legislators during Crossroads’ C5 Massachusetts State House Day program.
This spring Bisi and Tamin will participate in Crossroads’ C5 Medallions for Change service trip, a week-long experience during which their entire class will help a community in need. This year they will travel to Richmond, VA, to partner with local organizations who are working to end youth homelessness. Crossroads’ C5 programming has helped them develop the leadership skills necessary to plan and execute such a trip, and now is giving them an opportunity to show them off!
Crossroads for Kids is so proud of all that Bisi and Tamin have already achieved, and can’t wait to track their accomplishments wherever their talents and passions may lead them! Check out a brief video of Tamin's thank you speech at the Posse ceremony here!
