Get Started Planning Your Retreat

Crossroads Connects programs are comprised of educationally based activities and challenges designed to teach participants important interpersonal skills such as listening, presenting, collaborating, decision making, critical thinking, problem solving, and community building.  Each day is filled with a variety of activities, allowing for multiple opportunities to enhance character and social development.  At Camp Wing, our instructors teach/facilitate all of the activities so that chaperones, teachers, and staff can be a part of the experience.

While working with Crossroads Connects staff, you will be able to choose from program options that meet the goals and objectives of your group.  All activities end with reflection sessions that discuss what has been learned and how it can transfer back to the classroom, community and home environments.

Note to Educators:

We are committed as an organization to educators, youth workers and administrators throughout the Boston area, as a partner and support for the Boston Public School wide curriculum and the standard frameworks currently in place (Executive Summary Online, Massachusetts Department of Education). Our Crossroads Connects programs promote and exercise the characteristics of the ways of thinking that are stated for every subject area listed in the citywide learning standards: curiosity, critical thinking, respect for diversity, consideration, compassion, collaboration, self direction, perseverance, initiative, courage, and responsibility.

We can enhance your curriculum by incorporating our ‘Challenge by Choice’ philosophy. This philosophy offers each participant the opportunity to try a potentially difficult or personally uncomfortable challenge in a supportive and caring environment. We intentionally have students set their own goals and offer the necessary support and assurance for them in their quest to have them fulfilled, whether in the short-term during their Camp Wing visit, or longer-term in their school and/or community. Respect for individual ideas and choices is emphasized throughout our programs and reflective group discussions are encouraged. Finally, we hope to facilitate meaningful relationships among participants to help transform them into effective learning teams.
